Short Courses

Course program, 2004 - 2005

Five short courses involving all university partners, farmers and government organizations were conducted in the first 10 months of the project, one more than originally planned. These courses facilitated team-building, identification of research priorities and skills enhancement. In addition to delivering current information, concepts and potential technologies for livestock systems, the short course program was a consensus-building mechanism about how to better manage cattle and sheep components of farming systems and the information necessary to accomplish this. More than 175 classroom hours were delivered to a total of 142 participants in these week-long short courses (in Spanish). Most short courses also incorporated a brief field trip to highlight concepts or issues from the courses and promote discussion among participants.
